The Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts in Wickenburg features a diverse lineup of programming during March, including bluegrass, a Broadway musical, contemporary jazz piano and circus.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the musical “Damn Yankees” comes to the stage. Joe Boyd, an aging fan obsessed with baseball, trades his soul to the Devil for a chance to lead his favorite team in the pennant race against The New York Yankees. Transformed into young baseball sensation Joe Hardy, he turns the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team, yet questions the life he left behind. This seven-time Tony Award-winning musical features memorable Broadway tunes such as “Shoeless Joe From Hannibal Mo” and “Whatever Lola Wants.”

David Benoit returns to the Webb Center stage at 3 p.m. Sunday, teaming up with chart-topping keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist Brian Culbertson for their collaborative show Piano2Piano. Combining their distinctive styles of modern jazz and contemporary music, the musicians will perform some of their best-known compositions along with original music on dueling Steinway grand pianos.

During the week of WUSD’s spring break, the Webb Center will present three circus-based performances and activities for children and adults. At 10 a.m.  March 14, families are invited to attend a children’s performance of “46 Circus Acts in 45 Minutes.” Tickets are $5 for all ages. In this fast and furious circus show set to upbeat music, the acrobats of C!RCA battle the clock as they bend, fly, juggle and balance.

The trained professionals of C!RCA, an Australian troupe of acro-dancers, will also be teaching circus camp for first- through eighth-graders. During the three-day camp March 14-16, students will learn a variety of skills including circus movement, juggling and acrobatics. Circus camp registration forms can be found online at www.delewebbcenter.org. Space is limited. Fee of $45 includes two tickets to “46 Circus Acts in 45 Minutes.”

C!RCA finishes the week at the Webb Center with an adult performance at 7:30 p.m. March 15. Nine acro-dancers bend their bodies as they bend the rules of traditional circus utilizing improvisation, multimedia, light, sound and startling re-imagined circus skills. A bold new vision of circus arts, C!RCA combines seemingly inconceivable physical feats with sensual dance movements to invoke a poetic sensibility.

For seating availability or information, call the Webb Center box office at 928-684-6624 or visit www.delewebbcenter.org.

The Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts is at 1090 S. Vulture Mine Road, Wickenburg.
