Creative Stages Youth Theatre will produce two different Brothers Grimm plays.

“After the success of the ‘World of the Brothers Grimm’ play last year, we wanted to expand on the fun,” said director and writer Jim Gradillas.

The theater will produce “Very Grimm: Grimm vs. Mother Goose” and “Very Grimm: Grimm vs. Hans Christian Anderson.”

“I thought it would be fun if they faced off with Mother Goose and Hans Christian Anderson,” Gradillas said. “I know it’s not possible, but the characters facing off was too fun to pass up.”

The Grimm brothers are battling for audiences, and Mother Goose and Anderson want to see them fail.

These two new shows are filled with creative new adaptations from “Rumpelstiltskin,” “The Elves and the Shoemaker” and “Snow White” to the Anderson classic, “Princess and the Pea,” and Mother Goose nursery rhymes.

The show stars last year’s Grimm Brothers, Jacob Stovall and Zach Calderone, along with Corina Gradillas as Mother Goose and Stephen Gutekanst as Anderson.

“Very Grimm: Grimm vs. Mother Goose” shows are 7 p.m. Feb. 4, and 4 and 7 p.m. Feb. 5 and 12.

“Very Grimm: Grimm vs. Hans Christian Anderson” shows are 7 p.m. Feb. 11 and 18 and 4 and 7 p.m. Feb. 19.

Tickets are $12 for all seats and available at the door. Visit for information or call 623-298-4635. All shows will be at Creative Stages at 19209 N. 83rd Ave., Suite 106, Peoria, behind Devney’s Dance, north of Union Hills Drive and 83rd Avenue.
