Centennial student receives honors, heals from homeland horrors

Hussein Yasser reads notes from a tablet computer during class on Wednesday. Yasser is an Iraqi student attending Centennial High School in Peoria. He is one of nine students across the state to be nominated for a English Language Learners Success Story award. When he was 8 years old, Yasser was injured by a mine, losing his left arm and right eye.
