Squeezing a therapeutic massage, a facial and hypnotherapy services into your life may currently be out of most people’s budgets, but on Saturday, Nov. 7, the Ahwatukee Health Team is offering all of these services to the community for free at its “A Day of Giving” event.

The Ahwatukee Health Team has been serving the community since 1994, and clinic coordinator Dr. Amy Puls feels it was time for her clinic to give back to the community.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone, and we want to reach out because we feel like the Ahwatukee Foothills community has been so good to us,” Puls said.

The Ahwatukee Health Team is comprised of several individual businesses and, according to Puls, the group was one of the first complete wellness centers in the area. Over the years people have come to the clinic looking for an alternative to conventional medicine.

“There is a time and place for drugs and surgery, but it’s a good idea to start natural first,” Puls said. “We’re a one-stop shop for holistic chiropractic, massage, hypnotherapy and skin care.”

Sharon Shearer, a licensed aesthetician, will be offering several services at “A Day of Giving.”

“I’m good with corrective brow shaping, so no matter what has happened to your eyebrows, I can fix them,” Shearer said. “At the event, I will be giving skin consultations, masks and mini-facials.”

Dr. Peter J. Pinto, a holistic chiropractor, will be offering the public a glimpse into his own unique look at wellness.

“I’ll be giving people a taste of my brand of body work,” Pinto said. “My sessions are physical, and we release a lot of physical tension.”

Hypnosis at “A Day of Giving” will be handled by Ahwatukee Health Team members Don Rice and Sandi Graves.

“We’re offering 30-minute sessions, and we’re encouraging people to make appointments because the time slots fill up fast,” Rice said. “We cover everything in hypnosis, and have had great success with helping people quit smoking, as well as reducing stress and fears.”

“A Day of Giving” will be held this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Natural Healthcare Specialties Building, located at 13203 S. 48th St. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can be booked by calling (480) 496-4949. While services will be offered free of charge, the Ahwatukee Health Team is asking participants to bring one canned food item with them, which will be donated to St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank.
