Local seniors enjoying their lifestyle have the perfect opportunity to get the latest information on everything from travel to health and nutrition at the Lovin’ Life After 50 Expo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sundial Recreation Center in Sun City.
The 23rd annual event will feature entertainment, prizes and more than 70 vendors with information on retirement, health care, leisure, travel, education and casinos.
Musical group The Duttons, from Branson, Mo., will entertain again this year, beginning at 10. Other entertainment includes singer Joe Bourne and magician Mike Fisher.
Activities at the expo will include door prizes and an hourly drawing for $100. With the exception of the cash drawing, those who attend do not have to be present to win; however, they must enter the contests in person.
Attendees also have an opportunity to meet the ladies of the Ms. Senior Arizona Cameo Club and pageant.
“It all lends itself to a very positive experience,” said Lovin’ Life After 50 publisher Steve Strickbine.
The publication also puts on expos in Tucson and Mesa, but Strickbine said the Sun City location usually runs the smoothest and is the best attended; many people have been coming to the event for years, he said.
“People come out for a variety of reasons, mainly they like to look at the booths, but there is a social aspect, too,” Strickbine said. “And in the mean time, they get to learn something.”
Rochelle Vande Wiele, the expo coordinator, said that the event offers an opportunity for potential customers to meet face to face with companies selling products or services geared toward the 50-plus market.
“Seniors can get more information in a non-stressful environment,” Vande Wiele said. “We always get really good feedback.”
The expo is sponsored by the Daily News-Sun, Sunland Memorial Park, Hospice of Arizona and Lovin’ Life After 50.
Admission and parking are free.
