Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor will be a guest at the 7:30 a.m. Saturday groundbreaking for the new ICAN building at Folley Memorial Park, 601 E. Chandler Blvd.

Mayor Jay Tibshraeny, members of the City Council, ICAN board members and others will turn the dirt on the new 2.5 acre facility that is expected to be completed summer 2012.

ICAN, an organization that offers afterschool programs for at-risk youths, has outgrown its current 6,000-square-foot building. The new facility will be 20,000 square feet and includes six classrooms, a learning center, gymansium, offices and conference rooms.

The groundbreaking event is open to the public, and light food and refreshments will be served.
