September through May, Real London Bus Company is host to shenanigans in royal proportions. December, however, brings a bonus with the annual Holiday Lights Tours.

Holiday Lights Tours

Get your friends and family together for a ticket to ride on one of the remaining Holiday Light Rides scheduled for the season. With four buses that each seat up to 65 people, no one gets left behind. Bring a flask, Christmas cookies, or whatever warms the cockles of your heart.

Holiday Lights tours begin with a bus decked out all Christmassy, holiday music will be playing, and complimentary hot chocolate is provided. East Valley tours start at Tempe Marketplace, West Valley tours at Westgate. Expect to stop at three or four different locations, mainly big neighborhood displays.

Proprietor and authentic Brit bloke Jonathan Pring says, “This is a drivin’, walkin’, talkin’ kinda tour.”

Pub Crawls

Pub crawl routes include one in Central Phoenix and another in Scottsdale. Passengers depart from a starting location at 9 p.m. and attempt to conquer four bars and as many live music venues as possible before the tour finishes at about 1 a.m.

In Phoenix, the tour begins and ends at Rose & Crown Pub (628 E. Adams St., [602] 256-0223), in Scottsdale, at Dos Gringos (4209 N. Craftsman Court, [480] 423-3800). Typically this time of evening, parking is free.

The $50 cash ticket for a pub crawl includes complimentary drinks, cover charges waived, beverage discounts and free morning taxi return pickups.

Treasure Hunts

A treasure hunt on the big red double-decker bus is a daytime, family friendly scavenger hunt-type activity. Following a pre-departure briefing, you’ll set off to the first of three zones of play, each in a different part of the city. Teams compete against each other to answers questions, look for clues, solve riddles and take funny photos. Winning teams are awarded prizes.

People ages 6 and older are welcome. This event is appropriate for a wide audience and has included groups, couples, singles, families, corporate outings, birthdays and bachelor parties. Treasure hunts run from 1 p.m. to 5p.m. and cost $50 per person.
