Wellness expo focuses on baby and mom

Healthy Baby Happy Earth, an eco-aware baby and new mom boutique in histroic Catlin Court in downtown Glendale will sponsor the second Baby & Mom Wellness Expo from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Glendale Civic Center, 5750 W. Glenn Drive.

The free one-day event offers new parents or soon-to-be parents an opportunity to attend more than 20 sessions to hear about options in planning for their birth experience, including breastfeeding, infant and toddler water safety; dietary information before and after the birth of the baby; childproofing a home; music in parenting; and car seat safety.

Representatives from First Things First AZ, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, Phoenix Children's Hospital, Maricopa Integrated Health Systems, St. Joseph's Hospital, Abrazzo Healthcare System, Desert West Obstetrics & Gynecology and Medela Inc., as well as local businesses will ofer resources for children and parents.

Parents can receive complimentary identity safety kids from New York Life Insurance Co.

In support of early reading, Books are Fun, a company that specializes in popular titles at significantly discounted prices, will present a book fair as part of the event, where parents can purchase titles for all ages, as well as books on nutrition, heatlh and wellness and more.

A product showcase will exhibit the latest products that offer the latest for today's parents and children. The collection will focus on many items recently introduced at the International Children's Show in Las Vegas, with special focus on Arizona manufacturers. Items will be available for purchase or pre-order.

The first 250 families at the event will receive goodie bags with gifts and information regarding the safest products and services available for them adn their babies. The public can visit the exhibitors' hall throughout the event and register for door prizes, compliments of Healthy Baby Happy Earth and other sponsors.
