The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is featured in the May 14 edition of TIME Magazine. The article, “Learning that Works,” is by Joe Klein.

Klein toured EVIT’s Dr. A. Keith Crandell (Main) campus with Arizona State Schools Superintendent John Huppenthal and met with a group of students and asked how the education system could be improved in Arizona.

The article discusses the changing trends in vocational or career and technical education (CTE), and how students who participate in these programs are more likely to score higher on state aptitude tests, graduate from high school and go on to college than those who don’t. Today’s CTE students are getting trained in programs that lead to jobs or recognized certification, often in partnership with the industry.
