Breast cancer walkers dust off training shoes

With spring in full swing, more and more people are out enjoying the weather.

Some are doing more than just spending time outdoors, they're beginning their training for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure.

The event encourages participants to begin training months in advance to physically prepare their bodies for the three-day, 60-mile walk.

The Arizona 3-Day for the Cure will host an official training kick off on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5 from 7 to 10 a.m. at New Balance, 2860 W. Chandler Blvd. in Chandler, to help walkers get their training started on the right foot.

Registration is still open for the 2011 Arizona 3-Day for the Cure. For more information, visit www.the3day.org.
