Discounted $20 flu shots are available through the end of September if individuals bring a new toy to be donated at Phoenix-area NextCare Urgent Care.

The donated toys are part of the Emily’s Toys 4 Joys toy drive, a drive organized by 9-year-old Emily Fawcett. Three years ago, Fawcett was bitten by a dog and received treatment two local hospitals, a “scary” experience.

“I loved getting a new toy when I was at the hospital,” Emily said. “Other kids just like me who have to go to the hospital just want something to hold on to and make them not so scared. I hope that we get tons of toys to deliver to these kids and give them something to smile about.”

In addition to toys, individuals can donate games, DVDs, stuffed animals, books and arts and craft supplies. The toys will be distributed to children at Banner Health Cardon Children’s Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix Children’s Medical Center and John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital.
