Southwest Behavioral Health Service’s Homeless Outreach, a nonprofit program to help homeless individuals with mental illness, is requesting donations of hot weather supplies that will be given out to homeless living on the streets.

SBH’s Homeless Outreach program is not a traditional shelter or food bank but is a mobile program that delivers supplies to the homeless living in alleyways, riverbeds, parks and deserted buildings.

The Homeless Outreach program covers a vast area in Arizona. With scorching temperatures and homeless populations growing to record levels, the need for donations is greater than ever. Items that SBH’s Homeless

Outreach is requesting: water, sunscreen, hats or caps, lip balm, hygiene kits (including toothpaste, toothbrushes), light-weight T-shirts, shoes, socks and underwear. Monetary donations are also accepted.

Supply donations can be dropped off at the front office of Southwest Behavioral Health, 3450 N. Third St. in downtown Phoenix from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or at SBH’s Homeless Outreach offices at the Day Resource Center, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, 1125 W. Jackson, Suite 448, Phoenix.
