Q: Tell us about your restaurant.
AS: El Palacio is a family owned Mexican restaurant that first started in 1981 in Bullhead City. The environment is family-friendly with fresh food made with fresh ingredients. Even though we’re family focused, we have a wide demographic of diverse friends and families, young and old, that stop in. All of our locations — Bullhead City, Lake Havasu, Laughlin and Kingman — serve you in a relaxed environment with tasty Sonoran-style Mexican food.
Q: What are some things El Palacio is known for?
AS: Definitely our Taco Tuesday! It started three years ago as an idea that eventually stuck. From 3 p.m. to close we offer chicken, ground beef, turkey, pork or machaca tacos for $1.25, as well as $2.50 Mexican drafts pints. Within three and a half hours, we usually serve 1,000 tacos. We also have a daily salsa bar that offers everything from extremely mild to extremely hot salsas, for all heat levels to enjoy.
Q: Where do you like to eat out?
AS: I enjoy eating locally; that’s why one of my favorite restaurants is Yoli’s Cafe in downtown Chandler. It’s extremely affordable and the restaurant I go to whenever family from out of town come in to visit. I’ve been going there for four years now and have never had a bad meal — that’s the reason that keeps me coming back.
Q: What do you like about the food at Yoli’s?
AS: They have really good homemade biscuits and gravy. Everything is made from scratch, so you can really taste the difference compared to any other breakfast restaurant.
Q: What else do you like about the place?
AS: The owner is really nice, and the service they provide is great. On top of that, the convenience of a good local business is something I enjoy.
Q: Any other places you like to dine out?
AS: La Stalla. It’s a local Italian restaurant in Chandler as well. Whenever I have an occasion or want to enjoy date night, I go to La Stalla for their reasonably priced wines and dinner specials. I usually order the cheese-stuffed pasta dish that is dressed with the creamy sauce along with peas. If you go, you have to pre-order their extremely tasty chocolate souffle! It takes 15 minutes to prepare, but when it comes out, it’s hot out of the oven and is served with a side of ice cream.
