3 arrested in Mesa vacant house break-in

Mesa police arrested an 18-year-old man and two juveniles a woman said she saw break into a vacant house she was watching on Thursday that had been broken into before.

Matthew Gutierrez and the two youths were arrested on suspicion of burglary about 8:30 p.m., soon after patrol officers and the police department’s air unit arrived to pinpoint the suspects, who police say were attempting to steal items from the house in the 1500 block of East Jarvis.

Police say at least one of the suspects had gang affiliations, and the case now is being handled by the department’s gang unit.
