Spider-Man, Spider-Man, doesn't always escape like a spider can.

Thanks to a vending machine company's surveillance and monitoring system linked to its machines, Mesa police arrested a 41-year-old man with a Spider-Man hooded sweatshirt in his possession on suspicion of commercial burglary. Police were responding to a report of a commercial burglary at Mountain View High School, 2700 E. Brown Road, about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

After police arrived at the school, officers heard a drilling sound and saw a man on the upper level of one of the campus buildings breaking into a vending machine. Scott Allran, 41, initially attempted to run, but realized there was no route to escape and surrendered to police.

Police said Allran likely was wearing the Spider-Man hooded sweatshirt to conceal his identity.
