The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce is ready to begin a new year with a new board of directors for 2012.

The board officers, which were elected in December, include Karen Starbowski of MassMutual Financial as the new chairperson, Peter Menor of CHW Urgent Care as vice chair, Larry Hughes of Sweet Endings as treasurer, and Dawna Lepler of The Lending Co. as secretary.

New appointments to the chamber's board of directors include Kendra Fleetwood of CK's Tavern and Grill, Lindy Lutz-Cash of Foothills Ace Hardware, and Al Southergill of BookKeeping Express.

"We have an enthusiastic board who is working hard to further the services that the chamber provides to its members," said Anne Gill, chamber president and chief executive officer. "At our board retreat we developed our strategic three-year plan, and this board will be instrumental in implementing that plan."

Patty Durant of Empire West Title, Mark Deitchman of R.P. Ryan Insurance, and Dan Creed of Focal Point Business Coaching are all completing their terms on the Chamber Board of Directors. In a statement from the chamber, Gill also thanked outgoing chairman, Harvey Gibson, for his dedication to the chamber.

The chamber has also hired a new vice president of membership development, Tom Lockhart. Lockhart has over 30 years of business management and nonprofit experience, said a statement from the chamber.

Lockhart has also built and owned two successful businesses of his own in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Prior to joining the Ahwatukee chamber, he was a director with the Arizona Small Business Association, and served as chief executive officer for the North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce.

Lockhart serves on the Board of Directors at Thunderbird Artists, Inc., the American Healing Arts Foundation, and is a resident of Ahwatukee.

"Our board members are very dedicated to the chamber, our goals, and the positive growth of Ahwatukee," Gill said in a statement. "Although each board member brings unique individual capabilities from their section of business, they have willingly accepted working together to advance the welfare of the Ahwatukee business community."
