An athlete well known to Arizona sports fans is coming back to the state, this time as a mixed martial arts fighter.

Olympic wrestler Henry Cejudo will make his Phoenix debut as an MMA fighter April 19 in a World Fighting Federation Mixed Martial Arts show at Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino.

Cejudo, who began making headlines in the wrestling world as a student at Phoenix’s Maryvale High School, won gold at the Beijing Olympics, becoming the youngest American wrestler to ever accomplish this feat.

Cejudo is currently 1-0 in his fighting career. Some MMA watchers predict he will be the world champion in his weight division before he’s finished with the sport.

His match with Anthony Session, the Bantamweight Championship, is the main event of the Chandler WFF show. Nine more fights are on the card.

Tickets start at $25 and are available at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino box office, by phone at (800) 946-4457 or online at WinGilaRiver.com.
