Baseball fans will have a chance to rub shoulders with Hall of Famers and some of baseball's most familiar players when the Fergie Jenkins Foundation hosts its annual celebrity charity classic event and golf tournament next weekend.

Jenkins, a Hall of Famer and former Chicago Cubs pitcher who lives in Anthem, will host more than 30 former professional athletes for the meet-and-greet portion of the event at 7 p.m., Nov. 13 at Casino Arizona's Talking Stick Resort and Casino, 9800 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale in Salt River Room No. 5.

Baseball Hall of Famers scheduled to attend are: Jenkins, Carlton Fisk, Gaylord Perry and Rollie Fingers as well as NFL Hall of Famer Bobby Bell, Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon and NHL Hall of Famer Pierre Pilote. Other former Major Leaguers who will attend include Bert Campaneris, Tommy Davis, Dave Kingman, Bill Lee, Lee Smith and Ozzie Virgil.

The meet-and-greet costs $40 to attend with $10 from admission going toward the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The golf tournment portion of the weekend will begin at 10 a.m. Nov. 14 at Talking Stick Golf Course, 9998 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale, with registration taking place one hour prior. The cost for an individual to participate is $425 and a foursome is $1,700. The cost includes dinner and a banquet after the tournament. Pre-registration for the event is encouraged.

In recent years, the Fergie Jenkins Foundation has raised thousands of dollars for nonprofit organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Arizona, youth baseball programs and the American Cancer Society.
