The first Art of Movement showcases total body wellness through the arts.

This half-day movement experience, geared to all ages, will be at the Verrado Village in Buckeye from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. This community event is a feast for the body and the senses — a place to relax, unwind, bend, dance, revel and contemplate. More than 20 classes will be offered including yoga, pilates, tai chi, belly dancing, ballroom dance, capoeira, ballet and more.  Tickets may be purchased at the event and are $5 for adults and $2 for students. Children 10 and under are free.

The Art of Movement features a range of teachers, classes and styles that will inspire and challenge all practitioners, from the curious beginner to the longtime student. The event has gathered the Valley’s top teachers and experts to teach a full schedule of classes from classic presenters such as master yogini Jenn Chiarelli and pilates instructor Hannah Gallagher to new faces like Joe Fulton and Leslie Carney.

“We are excited to bring the Art of Movement to Verrado,” said festival organizer and Verrado resident Eva Shaw. “This is the first event of its kind in the West Valley that fuses artistic art forms and wellness principles. The event is a fun and interactive way to showcase how to get healthy through the arts.”

A portion of the proceeds from the event benefits the programs of the West Valley Arts Council.

“The council has been a great partner on this event,” Shaw said. “They do an incredible job of bringing the arts to the West Valley, and their arts education programs are amazing. Thousands of students are impacted each year through their efforts. We wanted to be a part of that.”

The Art of Movement is presented by the Verrado Village Sport & Health Club, Verrado, the West Valley Arts Council, and is sponsored by the Southwest Institute for the Healing Arts, Amanda Manfredi Photography, Sandey Tenuto Photography and Sedona Palms.

Morning coffee will be provided by Ground Control Coffee and a light lunch will be catered by Old Pueblo Café & Pub. There will be a wide variety of vendors, main stage performances and a silent auction.

The Verrado Village is at 4239 N. Village St. in Buckeye, at the base of the White Tank Mountains.
