A free Help for Homeowners community event will be held in Phoenix on Tuesday to help homeowners make steps toward preventing foreclosure.

The program, Making Home Affordable Program and NeighborsWorks America, is sponsored by President Barack Obama’s administration and will be from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Convention Center, 100 N. Third St.

The event, which is open to the public, will provide homeowners a chance to meet face to face with mortgage companies and a HUD-approved counseling agency to work on a solution to keep their homes.

The program was created to help struggling homeowners modify or refinance their mortgage payments to make them more affordable, or transition to more affordable housing.

For more information, visit www.MakingHomeAffordable.gov

Parking for the event is free.
