Peoria resident Ruth Hassel won a nationwide contest to have her needlework featured in a 2011 calendar.

The 2011 “Expressions” art calendar features Hassel’s floral-counted cross-stitch in its January page.

Hassel has been a resident of Immanuel Campus of Care in Peoria since 2005.

Born in Cleveland, Hassel said her mother taught her a variety of crafts, including counted cross-stitch. Thanks to her mother’s influence, Hassel has enjoyed a lifelong love of embroidery, hooked rugs, ribbon handcrafts, needlepoint, sewing and even making Barbie doll clothes.

The “Expressions” calendars are available while supplies last at Immanuel Campus of Care, 11295 N. 99th Ave.

Call the marketing department at 623-876-6101 to request a free calendar.
