The Wigwam invites Valley residents and travelers alike to celebrate Independence Day with a weekend of red, white and blue festivities including a Great American Picnic and fireworks show July 3.

The Wigwam’s Great American Picnic will be from 6 to 10 p.m. July 3 at The Wigwam Golf Club, featuring classic American barbecue for the public with favorites including Wigwam dogs, cheeseburgers, firecracker grilled chicken, a baked potato bar, apple pie and more.

Also featuring kids activities and live entertainment by the Dina Preston band starting at 6:30 p.m., the resort’s fireworks show will headline the event at 8:30 that night. Tickets to the Great American Picnic are $15 for adults, $7 for children ages 5-12, and free for ages five and under. The July 3 fireworks show is free and open to the public. Viewing areas and guest seating along the fairway of the Blue Course Tee No. 1 are available on a first-come basis. Spectators are asked to bring canned nonperishable food item or a cash donation to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank.

For those seeking a true VIP Fourth of July experience, The Wigwam will have an adults-only Fireworks Party at Red Allen’s at 6 p.m. July 3. For $50 per person, enjoy two cocktails, live entertainment and patio seating with views of the fireworks show that evening and an array of heavy hors d’oeuvres highlighting regional cuisine from across the country.

Buffet items include barbecued pork empanadas and smoked corn enchiladas; Carolina barbecue and mac and cheese from the South; California fish tacos and tropical salsa from the Pacific; and New York strip loin for a taste of the heartland. To purchase tickets, call 623-535-4973.
