With Desert Vista having the night off and Mountain Pointe winning with ease, there wasn’t much to surmise from Friday’s football action.

Although there was one nugget of intriguing information.

The Pride’s second team quarterback is Garette Craig. With the way Antonio Hinojosa has played through two games, it just might be a moot point, but interesting nonetheless.

I never really thought to ask the question in the preseason. I know coach Norris Vaughan is excited about some of the young talent at the position within the program but was unsure who would replace Hinojosa if need be.

Turns out it is Craig, who has 217 yards rushing and 11 catches for 131 yards with five touchdowns, and Vaughan would have no problem turning to the senior tailback.

“You know he can run and he can throw the heck out of it,” Vaughan said. “He would be quarterback if something would happen to Hinojosa. Hinojosa throws it a little better, but Craig throws it really well. And of course he can fly.”
