Dear Editor:

Arizona is still reeling from the economic downturn while the rest of the country is on the mend. Our unemployment rate is near 10 percent, while states like Michigan gained 28,000 jobs in July. Yet at the state Legislature, our representatives are cutting jobs, not creating them.

John McComish helped cut thousands of jobs over the last two year and his running mates, Jeff Dial and Bob Robson, give us no reason to think they would behave differently. They say they support small business and want to build a stronger work force, but they'll all vote like McComish did, supporting corporate bailouts to give tax breaks to big out-of-state corporations.

McComish also voted to cut $1.2 billion from education. I don't see Dial or Robson deviating from those kinds of devastating cuts.

Rae Waters was the only representative who voted in support of education and didn't vote for massive cuts to our schools. She also wants to reinvest in Science Foundation Arizona so we can have a sustainable industry with jobs when the economy takes a downturn. She's got my vote.

It's time to get Arizona working again, and McComish and his cronies won't help.
