A robber dressed in a Halloween mask demanded cash Monday morning at an AmTrust Bank in Surprise.

Sgt. Mark Ortega, Surprise Police Department spokesman, said the unidentified man pointed a handgun at a teller at the bank, 14543 N.W. Grand Ave., before demanding an undisclosed amount of cash.

No one was injured during the late-morning robbery, Ortega said.

The male suspect, who was wearing dark clothing and dark boots, is described as standing 6 feet to 6 feet, 3 inches tall. He was last seen fleeing on foot to an adjacent parking lot before driving away in a black or dark blue late model Chevrolet Impala.

Surprise police canvassed the area where the suspect was seen and were able to recover all the money taken during the incident, Ortega said. Police are unsure why the suspect dropped the money near the parking lot.

The FBI has been contacted. The Surprise Police Department asks anyone with additional information to call 623-222-4000.
