Peoria police locate missing K9

The Peoria Police Department located a missing member of the department's K-9 unit.

Peoria police spokesman Jay Davies said Branko was located by an off-duty Peoria officer assisting in the search.

Branko was found in a backyard a few houses down from his.Davies said Branko, a Belgian Mailnois went missing at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of 165th Avenue and Cholla Street in Surprise.

Branko resembles a German shepherd and is dark brown and black.Branko is a trained narcotics and patrol dog and has been with the Peoria Police Department for about four years, said Davies.

Branko lives with his partner, and the family let Branko into their secured backyard. Davies said the backyard was secure and Branko does not normally scale walls.
