An East Valley group is holding a book drive to donate to area children and pre-teens leading up to the Oct. 26 Make a Difference Day.

The Assistance League of East Valley is accepting new or gently used books to give to local Head Start programs and the Children’s First Academy in Phoenix. The goal is to give the books to children who could not purchase them otherwise.

The organization has donation boxes set up at Changing Hands Bookstore — 6428 S. McClintock Drive — and at the Assistance League Thrift Shop, located at 1950 N. Arizona Ave. Shopper who bring in books to the thrift shop on Oct. 25 or Oct. 26 receive a $1 off coupon for the store — open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — on that day.

For more information, visit assistanceleagueeastvalley.org or call the thrift shop at (480) 792-1600.
