Several local track athletes helped represent the state well at the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., last weekend

The Arizona girls won the event with 154 points to finish ahead of Texas, Colorado, Missouri and New Mexico, who all scored in the 90s.

Desert Vista sophomore-to-be Danielle Jones finished third in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes and 16.92 seconds.

Desert Vista’s Makenzie Digiovine-Holmes was fourth at 89-3 in the hammer throw.

The boys finished second behind Texas as Mountain Pointe graduate Ben Trotter finished third in the long jump (23-6.75) and fourth in the wind-aided 100-meter dash in 10.54 seconds

Pride senior-to-be Travonn White was eighth in the long jump at 22-6.25.

Mountain Pointe sophomore-to-be Paul Lucas ran a PR of 48.32 seconds in the 400 to finish seventh.
