Crews to replace large sign structures; freeway detour is set
Drivers with plans to use eastbound Interstate 10 in the Tempe area or to head from Phoenix to Tucson Friday night or Saturday should prepare for a full closure of the freeway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Eastbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 (Superstition Freeway) and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 1) while multiple crews work to replace three massive sign structures and install new signs above the freeway.
While eastbound I-10 is closed, traffic will be detoured along eastbound US 60, southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and westbound Loop 202 in order to reconnect with I-10.
The ramp from westbound US 60 to eastbound I-10 also will be closed Friday night through 3 p.m. Saturday, as will the eastbound I-10 on- and off-ramps between Baseline and Chandler Boulevard.
More information about the I-10 closure is available at www.azdot.gov.
