The Mesa Police Department has provided the following tips for Halloween safety:

• Children should always be supervised while trick-or-treating.

• A house without decorations or lighted porches should be avoided.

• Registered sex offenders should not have porch lights on or have any contact with juveniles. Parents can look up the address of offenders in their area on the Mesa police department website to avoid those homes.

• Parents should check all candy at the end of the night before allowing kids to dig in. It’s best to be done in a well-lighted room, and any unwrapped or questionable candy should be thrown away.
