Local nonprofits are invited to host food or game booths at Tempe’s 34th annual Family Halloween Carnival.

More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the event and the booths can be an excellent fundraising and community engagement tool for all kinds of nonprofits, including service clubs, PTOs, civic groups and school clubs. Last year, groups made an average of $250 per booth.

The carnival is a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating. It takes place 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29 at the soccer fields in Kiwanis Park. Groups interested in a booth must submit a registration form and a fee of $30 will be deducted after the event. A tent will be provided, but organizations are responsible for providing tables, chairs or other setup materials.

See www.tempe.gov/events/halloween/sponsor.htm to register. Contact Jonni Wolfe, Tempe’s special events coordinator, at (480) 350-5225 or jonni_wolfe@tempe.gov for more information about booth or sponsorship opportunities at the 2011 Family Halloween Carnival.
