East Valley nonprofit youth program, ICAN, will hold its annual Pack-a-Backpack drive July 1-19 to provide school supplies to community youth. Annually the program collects backpacks and school supplies for underprivileged youth who might not be able to obtain all the necessities for academic success. ICAN is partnering with the Chandler Compadres to provide each youth with a backpack.

Needed donations include No. 2 pencils, pens (blue or black ink only), notebooks (wide-ruled and college-ruled), loose leaf paper (wide-ruled and college-ruled), and three-ring binders.

Supplies can be dropped off at the ICAN Lon E. Hoeye Youth Center, 650 E. Morelos St. in Chandler. Community partner drop-off locations can be found at

On July 20, ICAN will host a back to school event where youth will receive their backpacks and supplies. Volunteers are welcome to help and urged to sign up through ICAN’s volunteer coordinator at
