Pop-up businesses and events, from restaurants to dog parks, have gained popularity in recent years, but there’s one artsy Arizona occurrence that’s been onto the trend for 10 years.

Arizona Fine Art Expo, home to 110 artists’ studios, a cafe, artists marketplace and 2-acre sculpture garden, springs up out of the desert again Jan. 16 for a 10-week run. A stroll through the 44,000-square-foot space makes a good choice for entertaining out of towners or whiling away an otherwise empty day off.

Inside the expo’s big white tents, artists throw clay, carve stone, weld metal and etch gourds. Periodic special events, like Garden Parties with food and wine, enhance the browsing experience.

Arizona Fine Art Expo is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through March 30 at 26540 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale. A season pass costs $10. For information, call (480) 837-7163 or visit ArizonaFineArtExpo.com.
