Arizona State University is currently ranked 78th in the world by the Center for World-Class Universities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University after moving up from the 81st spot.

The university has moved steadily up after entering the ranking in the top 200 of universities in 2003. ASU also ranks highly in many field and subject categories.

University of Arizona has been traditionally ranked in the mid-70s, but is currently ranked at 80.

The top five are Harvard, Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Cambridge in England. ASU ranked 22nd among all public universities in the United States.
