Desert Vista High School's courtyard will be echoing with music April 2 when the school's Reaching Out Club hosts a benefit concert, featuring local high school students and graduates.
The Reaching Out Club, formed just this school-year, consists of 10 to 15 Spanish students involved in the Latin community by taking mission trips to Mexico and hosting donation drives for local charities.
At the concert, six bands with members from Desert Vista, Mountain Pointe and Corona del Sol will perform, including Raining and OK, The Raintree, Annexi, Derek Cone, Robert Carroll and We're Not a Cover Band, beginning at 6 p.m.
"We came up with the idea when we were sitting around thinking of ways to raise money," Reaching Out Club officer and concert director Natalie Giaquinto, 17, said.
Admission is $5 for students and $8 for adults. The money raised will support a club trip down to an orphanage in Juarez, Mexico, as well as local charities.
The club also helps kids at Papago Elementary School with Spanish.
