Robber gets cash from McDonald's

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Less than two months after the last robbery and kidnapping, a lone gunman robbed the McDonald's at 4750 E. Warner Road early Sunday morning, according to police.

A gunman was waiting when the first employees arrived around 4:45 a.m. May 11, said Sgt. Joel Tranter, a spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department.

He hustled the two workers into the back, took an undisclosed amount of cash and then locked the employees in a refrigerator.

As the suspect was escaping south on foot a security guard saw him and called police.

Officers found a trail of $5 bills and some evidence in an apartment dumpster, but no sign of the robber.

Police say the gunman is around 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, wearing a dark ski mask, brown jacket and had gauze-like material around his neck.

In April, a gunman locked a manager in a refrigerator at the end of her shift after robbing the restaurant of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (602) 262-6151.
