Police nab possible home invaders
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Three in custody along with three guns
Police have taken three men into custody, along with three handguns, after a resident reported a suspicious vehicle early Monday morning in the Lakewood area.
All three were found in the area around Wildwood Drive and 34th Way.
Police wouldn't say that the trio were planning a home invasion, but officers did find lock picks, the guns, plus at least one pair of handcuffs, items that may have been previously stolen, as well as drug paraphernalia.
One of the suspects was found with lock picks in his hand by a K-9, Zeke, attempting to break into a home on 34th Way.
According to Sgt. Bryant Rockwood, it all began innocently.
"An astute citizen, doing a good job, called in to say there was a suspicious vehicle," in the area, Rockwood said.
When Officer Kevin Ham saw the suspicious Toyota he pulled it over and immediately the three occupants fled.
Ham took one of the men into custody and called for backup.
A perimeter was set up and a K-9 and helicopter were called in to search for the other two suspects.
