Phoenix police said they arrested a volunteer drama teacher from Mountain Pointe High School yesterday after a former student told police he had a relationship with the teacher while a minor.

David Trujillo, 26, was arrested and charged with 15 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of sexual abuse, according to Sgt. Tommy Thompson, a spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department.

As stated in a police report, parents of the former student at Mountain Pointe contacted school staff after their son confessed that he had been involved in a sexual relationship with Trujillo when he was a minor and a student at the school.

Trujillo was taken into custody at his home on Wednesday, May 15 and transported to Phoenix Police Headquarters where detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit interviewed him, according to Thompson.

The former student was contacted by police officers about the possibility of an inappropriate relationship with Trujillo last year, after he had become an adult. He denied any inappropriate relationship at that time.

Trujillo was a volunteer teacher at Mountain Pointe and a dance and drama instructor at other schools in the Valley, as well as at a private dance studio.

Anyone with information concerning these crimes is encouraged to call the Phoenix Police Department, (602) 262-6151, or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
