Woman slams door in armed intruder's face
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A possible tragedy was averted early Sunday morning when a woman slammed her front door in an armed intruder's face.
"It could have gotten bad," said Phoenix police Sgt. Frank Matsko, adding that the woman was woken around 5 a.m. when a man pounded on her door, looking for someone.
Matsko said that when the 24-year-old victim opened the door the man pulled a gun.
"She had the presence of mind to slam the door," he said, leaving the would-be assailant standing in front of the apartment door in the 11000 block of South 51st Street.
The man was described as a black male, between 25 to 28, 160 pounds and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, armed with a handgun and wearing dark clothing.
Officers searched the area but came up empty.
"The morale of the story is at weird hours of the morning ask who it is, and keep the door closed," Matsko said.
