The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce Women in Business committee will present the Palo Verde Award to an outstanding woman in business Nov. 6 at the Women in Business Awards Gala. This annual award embraces women in the community, honoring their contribution to area business and recognizes a female chamber member's personal achievements in business.
The recipient must be an Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce member and a woman who believes in and demonstrates her purpose. Her commitment to business excellence, management and community involvement are among the characteristics sought.

Along with the Palo Verde Award, the Women in Business committee will bestow two $500 scholarships to women continuing their education. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote the advancement of a local woman into the business world. The scholarship money will be used to further her business education at the college or trade school level. Applicants must be a legal U.S. resident and work or reside in the Ahwatukee Foothills community. Scholarship candidates will be judged on community activities and business experience, a letter of recommendation and a written essay.

Applications for both the scholarships and Palo Verde Award nominations are due to the chamber by Sept. 30.
The Women in Business Gala Awards ceremony will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Raven Golf Club at South Mountain, 3636 E. Baseline Road. Tickets are $55 per person or $95 for a pair. Share in an evening of dining, dancing, entertainment and honors.
