Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

I am a native Arizonan and graduate of Mountain Pointe High School and the University of Arizona. I've been in Christian ministry for the past seven years, serving in Ahwatukee at Foothills Baptist Church, and now in Maricopa, where we started up Waypoint Church just over a year ago.

Why did you open your business in Ahwatukee Foothills?

Ahwatukee is home and we love this community. It was an ideal place to start our company. Christian Companion Senior Care (CCSC) is a nation-wide company based in Oklahoma City. The company began franchising in 2008 and has 29 franchises across the U.S. Our Ahwatukee location serves the East Valley and south to Maricopa and Casa Grande.

How did you get the idea to open your business?

We needed in-home care for my grandparents, and we weren't comfortable with the options. We found Christian Companion Senior Care online and checked it out. We were so impressed with the company that we wanted to become involved as franchisees.

With the relatively lax rules in Arizona regarding independent caregiver services, we felt it was important to establish a service that could be a trustworthy source of dignified and accountable care to the growing senior population in the area.

What type of merchandise/services do you sell?

We provide caring, in-home services for seniors who want to stay in their own homes and remain independent. We offer companion care such as transportation, housekeeping and meal preparation, as well as personal care like bathing and dressing. We can also help seniors who live in a group setting.

Our schedules range from three hours a week to 24/7. We have registered nurses on staff for caregiver and client support.

What does your business offer that no one else does?

All of our caregivers are committed Christians who are experienced, qualified and highly motivated to make a difference in the lives of our clients. In addition to physical and social needs, we also address the spiritual needs of our clients. The spiritual services we offer are by request, but many clients take great pleasure in them.

Our spiritual services are more than just an "add-on." Medical research proves that spiritual care contributes to the overall well-being of an individual.

How have the residents of the community responded to your business?

We've had a very positive response so far. Many Ahwatukee residents have aging parents and need support. We've also been pleased to see that people are excited about the spiritual aspect of our work.

What does your business have in store for the future?

We want to be known as a company that cares for people - mind, body and soul. We look forward to making a positive impact in our clients' and our caregivers' lives.

Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

Sometimes families face situations where they suddenly need help caring for a loved one. We can step in and be that extra pair of caring and trustworthy hands. Our caregivers are bonded and insured and Christian Companion Senior Care is a member of the Better Business Bureau and the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce. Our company was also just named as one of the "Hottest 100 Franchises" by RedHotFranchises.com.
