The location last occupied by the Grill Wrap Café at Chandler Blvd. and 48th Street will welcome its new owners, Zaytoon Kabob Bistro, in the next few weeks.
Owner Parviz Moghimi recently signed a lease with Abrams Realty and Management to open his third location in the Valley.
He said it was a no brainer to open in Ahwatukee. "I use to live in the area a long time ago, and it's a great location, great traffic and from what I understand the people over there are very loyal to their own community," said Moghimi.
Zaytoon Kabob focuses on Mediterranean cuisine with new specials every day. Moghimi says what makes his shop different is that meat is put on high-quality skewers, which cook it from the inside and out. Cooking it on an open fire also helps get rid of a lot of the fat so that the meat is healthier, he said.
So far no plans are set for an official opening. Moghimi hopes inspections will be completed on the property quickly so that he can open as soon as possible.
The Dugout Grille is also a newer addition to the corner. Ted Schroder, co-owner said any new business in the area is welcome. "The more the merrier," he said. "If we can draw people in to the parking lot then that's a good thing."
Zaytoon Kabob's first location is at Greenway and Tatum, and Moghimi is in the process of opening another at 16th Street and Camelback in Phoenix.
The corner plaza has two more vacancies where Quiznos and The Coffee Buzz were formerly located.
