Chamber golf tourney a success

The 2010 Chamber Masters Charity Golf Tournament was a success in raising money for the Ahwatukee Red, White and Boom Fireworks celebration and the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce.

A full field teed-off for the coveted pink masters jackets worn by the winning Farm Bureau Financial Services team.

 

UNIWORK helps get America back to work

UNIWORK Career Clubs, a national initiative to get America back to work, will host a "meet and eat" kick-off event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Monti's La Casa Vieja Steakhouse, 100 S. Mill Ave., Tempe. The clubs will then be offered Tuesday and Wednesday evenings beginning May 18 and 19.

UNIWORK Career Clubs are designed to support and empower Valley residents who are unemployed, under-employed, looking to re-enter the workforce after taking some time off or eager to make a career switch. The clubs provide job seekers with essential tools for determining their next career step, including networking skills, resume guidance and interview tips.

ABM donates check for Red, White and Boom

Red, White and Boom Committee chairman Jeff Schenk (left) received a $1,700 check from Ahwatukee Board of Management president Rob Robinson to help pay for the Fourth of July event.

Of that amount, $1,000 came from homeowners in the Ahwatukee Board of Management Homeowners Association and $700 came from ABM.

Salcedo named to Komen Phoenix Board

Ahwatukee Foothills resident Luisa Salcedo of NetBillPro, LLC, will be treasurer for the 2010-11 board of directors of the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. She is new to the Komen board this year.

Salcedo will contribute extensive experience in IT and accounting as treasurer. She has more than 20 years of experience in accounting, finance and business management. She is currently involved with numerous non-profits such as Mujer Inc., where she mentors young Latinas to excel professionally, emotionally and spiritually; and Rosie's House, which provides music classes for underserved Phoenix youth.

The Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is responsible for providing guidance and leadership to staff and the more than 1,500 volunteers working together for a cure.

The signature fundraising and breast cancer awareness event, the 18th Annual Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure, will take place Sunday, Oct. 10, in the State Capitol District.

East Valley Business Breakfast Group

LeadZSmart business meetings on Wednesdays at chamber

A LeadZSmart Leads Group meets every Wednesday at the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce, 10235 S. 51st Street, Suite 185. A meet and greet starts at 7:30 a.m. and the meeting is from 8 to 9 a.m.

All who attend will have a 60-second intro at the beginning of the meeting, followed by a 10-minute member presentation. The meeting will also include a helpful lead referral lesson and group discussion.

Tuesday morning mixers are from 8 to 9 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at a local business. Dates needing hosts are July 13, Aug. 10, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14.
