Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

A: I am originally from Elgin, Ill., where I had been in school for architecture. I moved here 13 years ago to pursue my career in business. Prior to opening my own remodeling business I was an owner of a security marketing firm. I am currently an Ahwatukee resident myself and I love this area!

Q: Why did you open your business in this community?

A: I am a resident/homeowner in Ahwatukee and I really enjoy doing business in the community in which I live. Our company is locally owned and operated with the majority of our team living locally as well. In addition, I enjoy remodeling and updating the homes in Ahwatukee knowing that we are using higher end products and techniques that ensure quality and performance for years to come. I like the fact that I am helping to increase property value in my community.

Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?

A: About seven years ago, I had some remodeling completed on my Ahwatukee home. At that time, I developed a relationship with the owner of the contracting company. I became intrigued by the ability to design and remodel homes using new techniques and products that were not around when these homes were originally built. After that, he mentored me and I received my contractor's license. Ingenious Remodeling began in 2005.

Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?

A: Ingenious Remodeling, LLC is a remodeling company. We specialize in kitchen and bath remodeling. Most of our work consists of removing bathtubs and creating grand walk-in showers with sleek tiles and materials from local resources. In addition, we remove old countertops and replace with updated stone along with the sinks, faucets, etc., to give the look of a higher end kitchen/bath without the homeowners' spending the money to replace the cabinetry. We also do a lot of "Aging in Place" work such as installing grab bars in bathrooms, remodeling showers to be accessible, and installing hand-held shower heads to allow for ease of use. We also offer natural stone care and maintenance as well.

Q: What does your business have in store for the future?

A: We hope to hire more skilled labor and create jobs in the community. In addition, we recently received a new contractor's license, which allows us to complete larger projects. Our goal is to enhance the community through our commitment and improve the existing homes to assist in creating higher home values.

Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

A: We are incredibly detailed oriented and we like a challenge! We love seeing our projects from beginning to end. We work with our clients and develop plans, specify materials, and perform the work through from demo to completion. We are looking forward to our future accomplishments here in Ahwatukee. In addition, we have been looking for ways to give back to the community, including our recent relationship with Habitat for Humanity.
