New paint on an old building and a quick Facebook post announced the opening of a new Oregano's location coming soon to Tempe near Ahwatukee Foothills.

The new location at Elliot Road and Priest Drive is expected to open in mid to late August, according to Gary Tarr, director of marketing for Oregano's.

The new location will be much closer to Ahwatukee Foothills than the current locations in Tempe by Arizona State University or in Chandler at Dobson and Germann roads.

"We're just really excited to be in that neighborhood," he said. "Ahwatukee is a great place. There's so much going on down there and we're really excited to be there."

Tarr said the new location will be unique just like every location is. This one will have patio dining and great antiques from Chicago.

"The great thing about each of the stores is they have their own vibe," Tarr said. "Each layout is different. No building that we ever get is the same. They're all unique and then we create them to have something special about it that's different to that location."

Oregano's brings a different twist to pizza. They are known for unique recipes that can't be found anywhere else.

"Our recipes are very unique creations," Tarr said. "We make a great cheese pizza with sausage and we also make a really great barbecue chicken pizza. When you think of pizza you think a lot about the traditional stuff, but what we also try to do is create specialty pizzas that are completely unique. We have a cheeseburger pizza that is fantastic. The pickles make the pizza. It's just an amazing flavor. Where else are you going to find a pizza like that?"

The new location will do some hiring before opening, but Tarr is not sure when that process will begin. He said an announcement will be made and that there will probably be a banner on the building.
