Subway Restaurants of Arizona has announced that Ahwatukee Foothills resident Mark Roden, a local Subway franchisee for more than 20 years, has been named chairman of the 2011-2012 Subway Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust of Arizona (SFAFT). Local franchisees have also elected fellow franchisees Sean Brown, Chad Barnett, Bob Burns, Tom Hall, Bill Schulte and Les White to the board. Rick Hall has been elected as an alternate board member.

The SFAFT board oversees the marketing efforts for Subway franchisees throughout the Phoenix and northern Arizona markets, including all advertising, promotions, public relations and other activities designed to increase business at individual franchise locations.

"It's an exciting time for Subway of Arizona," Roden said "With the launch of our new monthly Featured Footlongs, as well as the continuing success of our expanded breakfast menu and partnerships with Coke, Frito-Lay, Shamrock Foods and Shamrock Farms, we expect to stay very busy this term."

In addition to overseeing more than 50 Subway locations statewide and serving as the SFAFT chairman, Roden is also co-founder and executive director of Subway Kids and Sports of Arizona, an organization working to provide sports equipment, uniforms, registration fees and access to major sporting events for kids who might not otherwise be able to participate.

Subway Restaurants is the world's largest sandwich franchise, with more than 34,187 locations in 95 countries and was launched in Arizona (in Tempe) in 1984. Headquartered in Milford, Conn., Subway Restaurants was co-founded by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965. That partnership marked the beginning of a journey - one that made it possible for thousands of individuals to build and succeed in their own business.
