Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

A: Optical Hideaway is operated by one of the industry's leaders in optical retail management, veteran Todd Goldman and his management group. Goldman's group encompasses almost 30 years in the optical industry. In the early 1990s, Goldman relocated to Arizona to introduce his clientele to what he refers to as "The Enhanced Customer Brand Value System." Goldman's optical brand/value business model was developed to provide the consumer with pricing parity on designer eyewear.

Q: Why did you open your business in Ahwatukee?

A: In 2008, Goldman operated his last consumer eyewear outlet, which was located in Ahwatukee, due to severe health complications arising from Valley Fever. Once he had recovered, it was only natural for Goldman to reopen in the Ahwatukee area, where he developed strong relationships.

Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?

A: Optical Hideaway is Ahwatukee's new eyewear hideaway for unique, designer eyewear and eyecare. Optical Hideaway's goal is to provide the highest quality eyewear and lenses at affordable prices.

Q: What does your business offer that no one else does?

A: Optical Hideaway's distinctive approach is to combine fashion with advancing technology and value, to provide leading edge optical products to our clientele.

Q: How have residents of the community responded to your business?

A: Our dedication to excellence has helped us not only earn praises from our customers, but also recognition as a leader in our industry.

Q: What does your business have in store for the future?

A: Over the years, the Optical Hideaway team has developed a "best practice" client service model based on one fundamental belief: "To offer the highest quality in products and service to all of our patients and clients - both personally and technologically." We also know that craftsmanship and attention to detail can never be compromised. That is why we continue to build our extensive brand inventory, develop alliances, and invest in equipment to offer the best quality eye care.

Our commitment is to do everything we can to meet and exceed our patients' and clients' expectations.

Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

A: Optical Hideaway provides full service eyecare exams for adults, children's vision care and the "hard to fit" contact lens patient. Our practice provides a full spectrum of optometric eye care services for patients of all ages.

At Optical Hideaway, we incorporate tests to assist in the evaluation of spectacle prescriptions, peripheral vision, intraocular pressure and eye health. Examinations include tests for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and the ocular effects of many general health disorders, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, as well as effects of medications.

The American Optometric Association recommends that all people should have a periodic, comprehensive eye examination every one to two years depending upon their particular needs.
