Brilliant Sky Toys and Books is no more.

The specialty toy store recently closed its doors after more than three years of operation in Ahwatukee Foothills.

"It's another sad closing," Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce Terri Kimble said. "We've got to come together as a community and tap into the resources available. Businesses that are struggling, they need to ask for help."

The main sign and store-front decorations are still there but the inside of Brilliant Sky, 4929 E. Chandler Blvd., has been cleaned out. There is a lien notice on the front door and a "For Rent" sign as well.

Owner Janet Hoo hoped to attract a niche market with a variety of fun, yet educational toys.

"We focus on developmental and educational toys, that's what makes us unique," Hoo said in September.

In December, Hoo said her competition was places like Target and Amazon.com. She could not be reached for comment.
