Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?
A: I am originally from Minnesota. I attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in 2002. I moved to Arizona in 2004, and for the next five years I worked for a handful of chiropractors in the Valley. I learned valuable clinical and life lessons from each one.
Q: Why did you open your business in Ahwatukee Foothills?
A: From 2007 to 2009, I worked in a clinic in Ahwatukee. It's funny how life works out, because just when I was thinking that it would be an ideal situation for me to open a practice of my own in Ahwatukee, events were set in motion that made those thoughts a reality. The timing was right and the opportunity was there, so I took it.
Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?
A: Opening a business is generally a chiropractor's dream or goal. The process of working for others or working with partners is no longer something that interests me. The idea of setting my schedule and getting back what I put into a business is what excites me at this point.
Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?
A: My services can increase your body's ability to self-heal and self-regulate. As a living organism, you already have everything inside of you that you need to function and heal properly. Most people just need to learn how to maximize their body's potential to allow for higher function. And simply put, that is what I do.
Q: What does your business offer that no one else does?
A: My goal is to simply teach others how the body works and from there, outline simple ways to increase health and quality of life. I strive for more long-term changes in your spine and in your health. A gentle adjustment is accompanied by specific postural exercises and stretches, which lead to amazing positive changes in your spine. I also realize that lifestyle changes in conjunction with your chiropractic treatments are generally needed to make dynamic improvements in your posture and in your overall health.
Q: How have residents of the community responded to your business?
A: The response has been great. The love that I have received from my past patients has been amazing. I know they call it "work," but it doesn't feel like it. I feel like I get to hang out with my friends and family everyday.
Q: What does your business have in store for the future?
A: I am always looking to improve patient care or to make any positive changes in the clinic. Business can be a very fluid entity, and that is one of the exciting aspects of running a business. For now, I would say that I am working on handling the growth of a business.
Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?
A: You can come in for a complete exam (X-rays included) for only a $20 donation to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. I would also like Ahwatukee to know that Dr. Al is back!
