Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

A: I am originally from Mexico. I owned another Hot Yoga studio before opening Hot Yoga Pura Vida.

Q: Why did you open your business in this community?

A: I live in Ahwatukee so it made sense to open the studio nearby. Not to mention, Ahwatukee and Chandler are active communities with mountain bikers, road cyclist, runners, athletes, golfers and overall fun driven people.

Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?

A: At 16 years of age, I was told to get a desk job and that my life would be short or that I would end up in a wheelchair due my condition: Spina Bifida.

Practicing Hot Yoga saved my life from depression and believing I would die at any given moment. Today, you would never know I had any condition unless I shared it with you.

I believe a person has to want to live and most of us have a choice of how we will live. I've been doing this for over 10 years and I opened this business to remind others to take charge.

To motivate them to fight back and face their challenges. To remind them that they matter and in most cases, that others are depending on them to lead the way.

That it's more than just working out or losing weight. That it's about having the ability to do things with their kids and living a life that doesn't revolve around fast food or sitting around a television for hours wasting time.

Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?

A: We offer one-hour Hot Yoga classes. One-on-one private classes as well as private group classes; i.e. sports teams, company groups, etc.

Q: What does your business have in store for the future?

A: One of our goals is to partner up with other local businesses and conduct educational services for the nearby communities. Yoga workshops/events, teacher trainings, yoga retreats and yoga/hiking ventures.

Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

A: Yes. It doesn't take anyone to be flexible or know anything about yoga. That's why we're here, to guide you through it.

As a society, we are suffering from things such as diabetes, obesity, low energy, mental stressors, depression and heart conditions. Providing programs for the public to access is important because it creates awareness. We should not ignore what we're up against any longer.

Our goal is to create a community at the studio that will be driven to be their best and become healthy. To be consistent with their practice, motivated to create the changes that they need and want and to have fun doing it.

A community that practices Hot Yoga with a vision; be it losing weight, building strength or becoming more flexible. A community that simply gets it done.
